Provision of 240 student bed spaces, both en-suite and shared along with a major transport hub for the Stoke Bishop Campus. Key elements and constraints for the scheme was the retention of boundary treatment along Parrys Lane in order to screen the site from neighbouring residential areas. Associated landscaping and tree planting both on site and off site to mitigate the loss of mature trees to facilitate the development.
The relationship between the residential campus operation and adjacent residential areas was strained and required a high level of sensitive negotiation and consultation before any application was submitted. Regular meetings were held with local residential associations and exhibitions provided of the evolving design. Once submitted, many of the fears and objections by local residents subsided and the scheme gained consent at Committee. CSJ Planning Consultants dealt with both non-material amendments and the discharge of conditions post decision.
