CSJ Planning Consultants have been appointed by City of Bristol College to bring forward a planning application for an Advanced Construction Skills Centre as an extension to the South Bristol Skills Academy at Whitchurch Lane, Hengrove. The driving vision for the City of Bristol College is to create a building that houses all construction taught trades in one centre. The proposal is for a two storey building linked to the existing facilities with a floor space of approximately 3,000 m sq. This will provide workshops, classrooms, drawing rooms and specialist IT rooms as well as staffrooms and stores. It is expected that the new facility will be able to teach up to 300 students at any one time. It is hoped to submit an application in March 2019. This scheme forms part of the major regeneration of South Bristol taking place, including the delivery of much needed housing, employment space and improved recreation and sport facilities.
