Jamie Oliver is coming to Bristol!
Monday 17th May, 2010Planning permission and listed building consent has today been granted for the £1 million refurbishment of the former Blackwell's bookshop on Park Street for celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver's first restaurant in the city.
The new restaurant will be up and running by early 2011 and will include a restaurant on three floors, an antipasti counter, fresh pasta machine and bread station together with a ground floor delicatessen area selling Italian food including pastas, Italian meats and cheeses as well Jamie Oliver's own cookbooks and specialised kitchen products.
The positive impact that the Jamie Oliver's restaurant will bring to the Park Street and Queens Road shopping centre is considerable. The regeneration effect of Jamie's Italian has been remarkable in other comparable historic cities such as Bath and Oxford and the same should be true in Bristol.
The restaurant is committed to the City on a long term lease which will continue the vitality of this prominent property in Park Street.
Michael Orr and Simon Tofts worked on the applications.
